Heating Installation Manager - Gas Boiler & ASHP

Salary/Package - £53,000 - £55,000 basic + Vehicle + Benefits

Permanent Position

As the Heating Manager, your primary responsibility is to oversee and manage the heating operations of our client's business. You will play a crucial role in supporting their continued growth and ensuring the efficient delivery of gas boiler and air source heat pump installations while maintaining high-quality standards. The majority of the work will be office-based in Watford, Hertfordshire, with occasional site visits across the South of England to meet with heating installers and address customer concerns.

Responsibilities:

* Lead the recruitment and retention efforts of skilled teams for heating works. This includes shortlisting, interviewing, onboarding, and training new gas safe engineers and heat pump installers, with support from the Human Resources (HR) Team.

* Provide guidance on ongoing capacity and identify resource requirements for field operations. Collaborate with HR to optimize resource efficiency.

* Develop and implement Technical Standards and Standard Operating Procedures for heating works, ensuring consistent adherence across all related projects. This includes ensuring engineers consistently upload accurate and complete paperwork in a timely manner.

* Create and deliver a comprehensive training program for heating engineers, including initial onboarding, ongoing support, and toolbox talks as necessary.

* Stay up to date with the latest technical and regulatory developments in the gas, plumbing, and heat pump technology fields. Establish relationships with manufacturers, suppliers, and regulators.

* Collaborate closely with the QHSE (Quality, Health & Safety, Environment) Manager to develop and implement an ongoing quality assurance program. Conduct quality assurance inspections on site and ensure prompt reporting and action. In the long term, manage a team of supervisors to ensure consistent quality of delivery, with a ratio of 1 supervisor per 10 installation teams.

* Work closely with the accounts and compliance teams to implement a Purchase Order process for all CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) heating engineers.

* Collaborate with operations teams and customer service staff in the office to address technical queries promptly. Liaise with customers when necessary to provide support.

* Oversee and manage the design process for gas and heat pump systems, providing support to the in-house design team. This includes tasks such as surveying properties, conducting heat loss calculations, and designing heating systems for a range of buildings from houses to churches.

* Support project teams in resource allocation to ensure efficient completion of all jobs and comprehensive documentation during installation.

* Build and maintain strong relationships with Gas Safe, APHC, MCS, and other trade bodies as necessary.

Skills and Experience:

* Minimum of 5 years' experience in ASHP installations.

* Excellent organizational skills.

* Proactive and able to work independently.

* Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

* Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and PDF software.

* Strong customer service skills.

Key Metrics:

* Volume and total value of heating works delivered.

* Profitability of heating works.

* Percentage of "right first time" installations.

* Retention rate of installation teams.

* Percentage of passes on Technical Monitoring (TM) inspections.

* Cost of remedial works associated with heating installations.
