Location – South Wales

Our client are a supplier of commercial scale PV installations throughout the UK ( 50kw – 1MW ). They are part of a European group with a multi-million Euro turnover and with a reputation in the solar PV industry for delivering their promises.

Our client are now seeking an Electrical Engineer capable of carrying out the full electrical design of commercial PV systems. Working within the design team, the successful applicant shall carry out both DC and AC system design and liaise with the District Network Operators (DNO) across the UK, to assist in gaining approval for the PV installations. The role will mainly be office based, but it is envisaged that during installations, the successful applicant will have a supervisory role on site, working closely with the clients project manager and system installers.

We are looking for someone who has experience of working on systems over 50KW.

Essential Requirements

  • Knowledge of BS7671 Wiring Regulations
  • Ability to calculate AC/DC cable sizes
  • LV/MV Electrical Design expertise
  • Experience liaising with DNO’s
  • Knowledge of PV Systems
  • Educated to Degree Level – Ideally Electrical / Electronic Engineering with 5 years experience in similar industry.
  • Expected Outcome

    To work within a design team and successfully design the electrical and communication aspects of the PV system and to provide onsite support to the clients project manager and electrical subcontractors.

    Tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Full AC & DC design of the PV system
  • Liaison with the DNO when seeking approval of PV generation
  • Design and configuration of PV monitoring system
  • Selection and overall relationship management of electrical sub-contractors
  • Procurement of electrical items
  • Production of H&S Risk Assessments & Method Statements
