MANUFACTURING ENGINEER, SOUTHAMPTON – c£35K + BENEFITS

Our client, a leading manufacturer of specialist products is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join their team in Southampton.

Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager you’ll be responsible for project work relating to NPI (new product introduction) in support of the targeted business growth along with handling issues which may arise as new products go through the transition to full production activity, especially in support of customer needs.

You’ll also be responding to production process problems and identifying and implementing continuous improvements (e.g. cost reduction, quality improvement and lead time reduction) in the manufacturing area.

To be considered for this position you’ll need to be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject such as manufacturing/mechanical/electronics engineering and have extensive experience within a manufacturing role – in particular NPI. You’ll also need to be fully conversant with lean manufacturing/problem solving techniques including six sigma, 8D, 5S. SPC and Kanban.

Knowledge of ISO:9001 quality systems and standards is also essential.

An Aerospace/Medical/Electronics background would be prefered although applications will be considered from candidates with relevant Manufacturing experience from other industries.

This is an excellent opportunity to join this leading manufacturing company based in Southampton as a Manufacturing Engineer offering a salary in the region of £30,000 – £35,000 + benefits.
