One of the UK’s leading Waste Management and Recycling companies has a requirement for a Landfill Gas Engine Technician to work on two of their Landfills sites in the Lewes area.
These sites are run on a 24-hour gas utilisation basis and consist of large reciprocating spark ignition landfill gas engine/generator sets with landfill gas control equipment/pumps and combustion/flaring equipment.

As a Landfill Gas Engine Technician you’ll be responsible for the routine maintenance and servicing of all equipment along with fault-finding and troubleshooting. These tasks can vary from straight forward valve adjustment through to deep strip, crank replacement etc.

Key responsibilities role will include:

Providing essential maintenance and operational support to the site landfill gas collection and flare systems in accordance with the management plan.
Carrying out daily reporting on the status of generation and gas systems.
Responsibility for the upkeep of all site tools and equipment along with your own health & safety and the general plant wellbeing.
To be considered for this role you’ll need to have served a mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent and have a sound knowledge of reciprocating internal combustion engines. You’ll need to the ability to work autonomously ensuring all health & safety guidelines are strictly adhered to and have a basic understanding of electrical principles.

A working knowledge of landfill operations and landfill gas management would be highly advantageous although not essential as training will be provided. This role would also suit a trained HGV / Marine mechanic wishing to change their career.
